Can I pick which village I want to sponsor?
Yes! We allow you to pick the country in which you would like to sponsor and choose from a list of available villages.

Can I sponsor more than one village?
Yes! You may sponsor as many villages as you like. You may choose to sponsor several shares in one particular village, or choose to sponsor different villages in different countries.

Can my church or group sponsor a village?
Yes! Your family, church, or community group can sponsor an entire village! For more information, about ways to get your group involved, please contact us at 858-274-3718.

How do I know my donation is going to my village?
100% of your sponsorship donation goes directly to the Floresta fund responsible for the area your village in located in to strengthen the programs in the village you have chosen.

How will my village sponsorship be administered to the village?
Floresta’s in-country program staff receives all donations for villages within their country and administers these funds to your village. This ensures coordination for the comprehensive and effective use of your donation for Floresta’s work with in your village and larger work in the surrounding communities.  

What happens if there are more sponsors for a village than what is needed?
Floresta caps the village sponsorship at twenty sponsors to avoid over sponsoring any one village.

What happens if not enough shares are sponsored in a village?
Villages which have not yet received twenty sponsored shares will be supplemented by other general income.

What activities will be done in my village with my sponsorship?
Floresta’s programs vary slightly from country to country, but all programs focus on incorporating our four basic elements for our victorious cycle which include: teaching sustainable farming and agroforestry techniques to repair the land and make farming more productive and profitable for the farmers, helping farmers create enterprise by offering affordable loans to farmers and entrepreneurs which help our village members become economically self sufficient, planting trees and promoting crop diversification to replenish the land, and promoting discipleship, as holistic development only comes in parallel to a growing understanding and deepened walk with God.

When will I receive a tax-deductible receipt for my village sponsorship?
You will receive a tax-deductible receipt after each payment is received. Please contact us to let us know if you will require a receipt at another time during the year. You will also receive a year end statement summarizing your entire donation in a given year for tax purposes.

Once I sponsor a village, how soon will I receive my village info?
You should receive your village information within two weeks of registering as a village sponsor.

Can I sponsor a village as a gift for another person? Will they be able to receive village information?
Yes, you may sponsor a village as a gift for someone else and we will send the village information and updates to that person’s mailing address.

How much does it cost to sponsor a village?
One share of a village costs $30 a month ($360 a year). Each village is consists of 20 shares. The entire village, all 20 shares, equals $600 a month ($7,200 a year). You may sponsor between one and twenty shares of each village.

Can I sponsor a village at another amount not specified?
Yes, the minimum requirement for one share of a village is $30 a month; however you may sponsor more than one share or any other amount you would like to sponsor monthly. If this is below $30 a month the money is contributed to our general fund for all of our projects.

Will I receive updated information about my village for the duration of my sponsorship?
You will receive at least one update each year on the progress of your village. You will also receive information on Floresta’s programs globally so you can keep informed as to how your village sponsorship is contributing to the larger picture of transformation.

Can I pay automatically by credit card?
Yes! Floresta prefers donors to register online, automatically by credit card (www.floresta.org). This helps donors remember their commitment as well as reduce unnecessary mail and paperwork.

How long does my village sponsorship last?
Although the Sponsor a Village price is broken down into a monthly or annual contribution, you are encouraged to make a lasting commitment to your village. This lasting commitment helps you become more deeply aware of the needs in your community over the years and enables you to have a better understanding as to where your donation is going.

If I must discontinue my village sponsorship, what happens to the village?
If you are unable to continue with your sponsorship, Floresta will make it a priority to fill that spot by a new sponsor.

Can I visit my village on a trip arranged by Floresta? Can I visit my village alone?
Floresta encourages sponsors to visit communities on Floresta’s donor or vision trips. We recommend traveling to your village on a designated trip as our villages are located in remote locations, which are difficult and sometimes dangerous to access unaccompanied. 

Can I write letters or send gifts to people in my village?
Because of the nature of our Sponsor a Village program, there is no one contact person for the village to receive and distribute donor correspondence. Gift donations of food or clothing, or other items are not accepted. You will receive information about individuals in your village through our annual updates, which we encourage you to keep them in your prayers.

Why did I get notice of a change in my village sponsorship?
Floresta is proud of its ability to bring villages to a level of self sufficiency through the success of our programs. When our programs have been successful and our goals have been achieved in a village, we see no need to create dependency by remaining in the village. Since there are many villages in need we move sponsors from a successful village to a village where there is still need. Leadership in the community as well as local partners will determine when a village is ready to graduate from our program.

At other times villages are split up into smaller communities so more people are served by Floresta programs. In this case new villages emerge out of a larger, previously sponsored area.
